Multimodal Two-Phase Flow Measurement Using Dual Plane ECT and GRT

This work assesses the accuracy of two-phase flow measurement, based on cross correlation (XC) and cross-spectrum (CS) velocity computation, using dual plane nonintrusive electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), over a broad spectrum horizontal configurations, combined with fraction distribution measurements from gamma-ray (GRT). The measurement encompasses both phase concentration components. is still an open discussion remains key challenge in field multiphase measurement. velocities components vary, between them across pipe section. study use XC techniques as methods for calculating cross-sectional by deriving transit time fluid flowing through two parallel ECT sensor arrays mounted perimeter pipe. spectral assessed improved individual component velocities. A dual-plane adopted state-of-the-art density-based GRT system to measure volumetric rates phases. results show that CS method provides enhanced estimation phases conventional technique. Further improvement was reported simple predictive correction model resulting flowrate ±10%. suggested this leverages systems accurate fast data acquisition lead potential enhancement process control enabling more prediction
